EVENT: Informal Book Chat with Lauren C North
On Thurs 30th March I went to Waterstones in Colchester for a book event. It was to lauch Lauren C North’s new book The Ugly Truth, which is written in transcript style about a celebrity who goes missing. It is told via interviews for a Netflix documentaty, interviews for a ghost-written biography and social media posts. It’s a great book, I’m halfway through so far, and you have to choose if you are #savemelanie or #helppeter. The evening had nibbled and prosecco which is always a good start! It was an informal event where Lauren asked us to talk about our favourite books and characters, what we think of books being turned into films, our favourite and the worst (we hit Twilight hard here). We also spoke about audiobooks and ebooks. It was really interesting to hear from people who were in reading groups as it’s not something that has ever appealed to me.
